Mankind spends much of his life searching for answers, and maybe the rest of it hiding from them. It’s interesting how mankind will search and search for answers to life and often when he finds them, they are not what he expected or hoped for, so he ignores them. Sometimes we humans will even go as far as to decide that the answer we found maybe really isn’t the answer, so we convince ourselves that we are still looking. The trick to searching for something is recognizing it when you find it.
Answers in life are rarely simple. Often we discover only the tip of an answer. It is generally deeper than our initial understanding of it. We would all do ourselves a great service if we could learn to look beyond the surface. Ever have a problem that required multiple answers to resolve it? Yeah, me too!
Answers often don’t seem to be all that we hoped they’d be. They often seem incomplete, or, as I mentioned earlier, unfulfilling. They sometimes even reveal that we are the source of our own challenges; or worse yet, that we are the source of the true solution. After all, when we have the power to be the answer, we then become responsible to bring it to bear. These are some of the times when we humans like to try and ignore the answer, or hide from it.
The truth is that I often find that I am the source of all that I do. Does anyone else hate that?
Our world is custom made by us. We have recently developed a society that is quick to lay blame on others or “the system”, portraying ourselves as victims who have little choice. We thereby pass on any of the responsibility for our own actions. In so doing, we are tossing away our own empowerment to bring solutions into our life.
I often hear the Scripture quoted, “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.” (Phil.4:13) Truth is that this verse says it all: I can do all things, not someone else.
If we’re looking for answers, God has them. It is then up to us to go forward in them, or keep on looking for different answers. The problem is that truth is truth regardless of whether or not we believe it and follow after it. It is almost never simple and it is always up to us to decide if we will act upon it or ignore it. Blessings!
